Conductor Sir Neville Marriner and soloist Arabella Steinbacher teamed up with Poland's I, CULTURE Orchestra European youth orchestra to play Berlin's Berliner Philharmonie with an unforgettable concert
The youth orchestra performed in Germany's largest city before going on to perform in Brussels' Palais des Beaux-Arts.
The I, CULTURE Orchestra already received praise from the resident conductor, Sir Simon Rattle, during their rehearsal that afternoon just after the resident Berliner Philharmonie symphony orchestra wrapped up their rehearsal.
The eveningconcert began with "Voyevoda (Symphonic Ballad)", Op. 78 by Tchaikovsky, Arabella Steinbacher then performed "Violin Concerto No. 1", Op. 35 by Karol Szymanowski. After the break "Symphony No. 4 in F minor", Op.36 by Tchaikovsky.
Sir Neville Marriner invited Paweł Kotla, the ICO's artistic director, to take the stage and conduct the encore piece - a fragment of Stanisław Moniuszko's "Halka" - a surprise which the Berlin audience welcomed with enthusiasm.
Another I, Culture Orchestra concert will be held on 4th of November in Brussels' Palais des Beaux-Arts, then the orchestra travels to London, Madrid and Warsaw (read more ...).
