The Golden, Silver and Bronze Jabberwockies in the 18th edition of the Etiuda&Anima Festival have been announced
Professional filmmakers, up-and-comers and students from all over the world submitted 61 films for the "Anima" competition. The festival jury, made up of Hieronim Neumann (chairman), Wendy Tilby, Jonathan Hodgson, Matti Kütt and Claudius Gentinetta, chose Marta Pajek and her "Snępowina" / " Sleepincord" as the winner of the Golden Jabberwocky. The film "Bliźnięta" / "Twins" by Peter Budinski won the Silver Jabberwocky and the Bronze went to Jason Carpenter for "Najemca". The Speciaj Jabberwocky for the best student etude went to "Babcie" directed by Afarin Fghbal.
Honourary diplomas were given to four films, "Luminaris" (directed by Juan Pablo Zaramell), "Moxie" (directed by Stephen Irwin), "Wizyta" / "Visitation" (directed by Suzan Pitt) and "Pamięć cielesna" / "Body Memory" (directed by Ülo Pikkov). The student Jury awarded the "Drżące trąby" / "The Shivering Trunks" for its simplicity and psychological truths, while the audience awarded Kamil Polak for the film "Świteź" / "The Lost Town of Świteź".
The 18th International Film Festival Etiuda&Anima took place between the 18th-24th of November. It is one of the oldest Polish festivals of animation and student art. The event features animation presentations, reviews of the classics, as well as meetings and workshops with outstanding artists. However the main events of the festival are two international competitions: the student etude competition "Etiuda" and the animation competition for students and professionals "Anima".
