Kari's group formed in Jan 2013 when Kari Amirian collaborated with Jon Headley, Chris Headley, John Pullan and Callum Harvie. She releases her music through a major label and tries to keep her songs natural and sincere.
For her debut album Daddy Says I’m Special released under Kari Amirian, she recorded very atmospheric tunes. A Poem or Jump into My Heart and Stay are based on cello, double bass, piano and handbell. In these “open” arrangements, which leave plenty of space for the singer’s voice, Amirian sings shyly and delicately; firmly as well, yet she still seems to be in the background. Robert Amirian wrote the lyrics. He was a vocalist, composer and lyricist who played the guitar in Kari's band. He was an important figure of the Polish music scene of the 90's. His lyrics are sometimes surprising: "Deaf ears start to be hearing/Beloved heart reflects the light/Gold dust on me gives a feeling/That it's started".
Something big is about to happen for Kari. Bartek Chaciński of the Polityka weekly believes that she’s right up there with the alternative pop vocalists Feist and Lisa Hannigan. It’s also worth noting that Kari plays with respected and sensitive musicians such as Wojtek Traczyk, who has his own very well-received authorial album under his belt.
The album Wounds And Bruises was produced by Kari and Jon Headley, in the UK. Her song The One was featured on the BBC Radio 1 playlist within the BBC Introducing cycle, earning very favourable reviews from the renowned British journalists who hosted the programmes. It gave Kari a performance at BBC RADIO's BIG WEEKEND in Glasgow on the BBC Introducing stage.
In 2012 Kari was awarded with the main prize by polish magazine HIRO. She was also nominated to Poland's most prestigious music award, the Fryderyk, as Newcomer of the Year (2013). The album Wounds And Bruises topped the polls, charts and end-of-the-year listings of 2013 in many influential Polish media.
