TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading”. What started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago has has grown a worldwide organisation supporting these world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives.
The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Sir Richard Branson, Isabel Allende, Philip Zimbardo and ex-UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Now, it is possible to watch more than 1600 TED presentations online.
TEDx are events organized by local groups outside the United States. So far, there have been nearly 10,000 such events around the world. Every March in Warsaw, conferences with the participation of professionals from various fields are organized. During this year's edition, there are more than 130 presentations. The event will include Jacek Szycht – a Polish photographer and designer, Yuri Drabent – the Polish traveller, Danish art collective Green Finger Crew, writer John Blake, dance duo Justyna Jędrzejewska and Andrzej Bernaś, and photographer and associate of National Geographic magazine, Tomasz Tomaszewski.
The first shows of TEDxWarsaw were held in Warsaw University’s Old Library building. Due to the great interest in the 5th edition, this year it will take place in Multikino Złote Tarasy (a cinema in the Złote Tarasy shopping mall in the very centre of the city).
The TEDxWarsawSalon centre will open in October 2014.
The conference will be held 13th March 2014, from 9:00 - 19:00.
Culture.pl is a partner of the conference.
