The Short Film Special Jury awarded the Polish film for its 'particular visual value'. The film was shot by Jakub Stolecki, a cinematography student at Łódź Film School.
A Sundance Festival Prize, especially the one awarded for film visuals, is very significant to a cinematographer. Neither Paulina nor I would have dreamt of having our film noticed at such a festival. It came to us as a really, really nice surprise. I hope this will open the doors to other festivals in Poland and abroad – Jakub Stolecki said.
The short film programme of the 2015 Sundance Festival featured 60 titles, which were selected out of 8 thousand applications.
Object is the creative story of a rescue attempt played out in two worlds: in an ice desert and under water. The story is told from the points of view of the rescue team, of the diver, and of the ordinary people on the shore.
Katarzyna Boniecka, a film editing student at the Łódź Film School, was responsible for editing Skibińska’s documentary. Jacek Bławut, a famous documentary filmmaker and lecturer at Łódź Film School, provided artistic supervision.
Object was made within the First Documentary programme at the Andrzej Munk Studio linked to the Polish Filmmakers Society. PUK Studio's Katarzyna Szczerba was the executive producer.
The Sundance Film Festival, which presents the newest American and foreign productions, has taken place in Utah’s Park City and Sundance Mountain Resort each year since 1978. Robert Redford is one of festival’s co-creators.
Besides the short film presentations at the festival, Sundance Film Institute also organizes workshops for filmmakers, and showcases short films in cinemas across the USA.
