"Camerimage". International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography
The **im:International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography "Camerimage"** is a festival that rewards (with the Gold, Silver and Bronze Frog) and analyses the year's best films in terms of visual qualities. Other prizes are also awarded: for life work, for the best director, and for the best director-cinematographer duo. In the past, the festival has hosted John Schlesinger, Bernardo Bertolucci, Peter Weir, Norma Jewison, Roland Joffe, Mike Leigh and David Lynch. Apart from the Main Festival, there is also a Student Film Festival. The judges award the Gold, Silver and Bronze Tadpole to students producing etudes with the best visual qualities. The festival is accompanied by workshops, seminars, panel discussions as well as exhibitions and presentations of cinematic equipment. The event mainly gathers film-makers: cinematographers, directors, producers, actors and artists.
"We believed the festival would allow people in our country to see the best films from all over the world and attract great film-makers to Poland." (Marek Zydowicz).
"It was a great experience. The participants and judges came from many countries, but they all found a common language. This strengthened my faith in film as a universal form of expression. I was very pleased to be at the festival again, and see how it's developing." (Victor J. Kemper)
